Disney World is a huge place and there is so much to do and see that it is impossible to be able to do it all on your vacation. Beyond your Fastpasses+ reservations it is advisable especially during the busier times that you pick 2-3 other must do’s everyday, and just let it go if you cannot do anything else. There are going to be some attractions that you may want to skip and not worry about them in the first place. Whether they are just repeats of other attractions, or something that your whole party may not be able to ride. They may also just be long attractions that have a duration that makes them prohibitive to you doing something more worthwhile with your vacation time. knowing what these are ahead of time will save you from having heartache when you just cannot get to them.
The following are 10 Disney attractions to skip if you run short on time.
1. Spoke and Wheel attractions
These include Astro Orbiter, Dumbo, Aladdin’s Flying Carpets, and Triceratops Spin. All of these attractions are the same with just different theming. If you decide on one you need to go on there really is no need to go on the others as you will pretty much get the same experience. If you are wanting to pick just one of these hub and spoke attractions you should make that the iconic Dumbo or Astro Orbiter (which is also on the list of 10 attractions that are just not worth their wait).
2. Journey into Imagination with Figment
This is one Epcot ride that was at one point a no miss Epcot e-ticket, but has been reimagineered into something that you will not at all miss if you skip. This slow moving dark ride is a journey through imagination staring Figment, and while Figment himself is awesome the rest of this attraction just does not measure up. This is the third incarnation of this attraction located in Epcot’s Imagination Pavilion.
You journey through the imagination institute through the sense such as smell ( in which you get blasted with skunk smell), sight where you follow the bouncing Figment to the the tune of One Little Spark, and sound where of course you are blasted with loud noises. You also never quite make it to smell and touch since Figment causes to much chaos and the tour through imagination is abandoned. It is so easy to have a great day at Epcot and enough to keep you busy without
3. It’s a Small World
Yes this is an iconic Disney attraction, yes a lot of people will not agree with me here and that ok. Really though It’s a Small World is a 14 minute tour through what will only be remembered as a song you will not be able to get out of your head. You know “the Song that Never Ends” made popular by the show Lamb-chop… yup this song is that kind of mind drilling ( good song but you will be singing it constantly long after your vacation has ended)
There are other ways to sprinkle Disney magic throughout your everyday life then by having this song repeat in your head over and over again.
4. Living with the Land
I love living with the Land in Epcot’s Land pavilion. This is a calm boat ride through agriculture, and the green houses of Epcot in which Disney grows some of the food used throughout the resorts. However some people find this dull especially children, and you may find that you do not want to spend time on this when you can go on more thrilling attractions such a Soarin.
5. Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel
The title of this attraction has the exact reason that you should consider skipping it if you are short on time, or it is a super busy day. This is just a carrousel however located in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. Disney has so many unique attractions that you would be better off waiting for and spending time on than a simple carrousel.
6. Primeval Whirl
Primeval Whirl is a steel wild mouse coaster located in Chester and Hesters Dino-Rama in Dinoland at Animal Kingdom. Besides being in one of the worst themed ( side carnival theming here) areas of any of the Disney World parks this coaster is an off the shelve model wild mouse that can be found in some incarnation at any carnival. This attraction also is really rough and has jarring spins that may leave you a little pained after getting off of it.
You are much better off spending the extra time waiting for Expedition Everest which is in the same park, or better yet grabbing a Fastpass+ for this coaster as it is one of the best attractions you will find in any of the Disney theme parks.
The Barnstormer suffers the same fate as many of the attractions on this list in that the attraction itself just is not unique and is an experience you can get at any run of the mill carnival or theme park. Barnstormer or more fully the Great Goofini’s Barnstormer is a kiddie coaster in the Casey’s Junior section of New Fantasy Land. This coaster may be a great starter coaster because it is small and short, but you are better off bringing your child on 7 Dwarfs Mine Train also located in Fantasyland.
8. Tomorrowland Speedway
Tomorrowland Speedway is an attraction located in Magic Kingdoms Tomorrowland that take you around a tracked Race track in specially designed cars. There are a few issues with this particular attraction that make it one you may want to consider skipping on your next Disney trip. The main issue being the cars are old and put out a lot of fumes which do not smell good and give some a headache. The vehicles can also be hard to steer meaning you can easily hit the track below you giving your vehicle a jolt causing a painful experience. Unless you have a child who is dying to drive their own vehicle, and is tall enough (54″ to drive one) do not put this on your list of must do’s. This is one attraction that needs to have an IP update.
As you can see not every attraction in Disney is created equally, but only you know your family. These attractions may be just the thing for your particular group. At least now you have some sense of a few attractions that may not be worth putting on your Disney vacation agenda.
