Disneyland (Anaheim California)

The original Disney park opening in 1955 with Sleeping Beauty’s Castle (one interesting fact about this is that movie this Disney princess castle is based on was not actually released until 4 years after Disneyland opened). This beautiful castle is modeled after “Neuschwanstein” a Bavarian castle built by King Ludwig II.

While visiting the Disney castle in California you are able to travel up to and around the castle to get from Main Street to Fantasyland, but you can also walk through some of the castle’s interior.

Sleeping Beauty’s castle at Disneyland California castle also includes an actual working drawbridge though it has only been lowered twice once on opening day, and the other upon the opening of new Fantasyland.

Disney World Castle Magic Kingdom

Cinderella’s castle is the main focal point of the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. It is 189 feet tall and surrounded by a moat that contains roughly 3.37 million gallons of water. Even though this castle is already big it uses forced perspective so that onlookers are optically fooled into seeing the castle as much taller than it actually is.

Unlike Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Disneyland California Cinderella’s castle’s drawbridge is not actually able to be lowered.

While this castle does not have a place wander around inside as a walking attraction it does however let you eat inside of it at Cinderella’s Royal Table. You can also get made up like a princess if you are 13 or younger at Bibbity Boppit Boutique. There is also a super exclusive suite within the castle that though barely used is on every Disney World fans ultimate bucket list.

Tokyo Disney Castle

The castle for Tokyo Disneyland may look quite familiar. It is actually a copy of Walt Disney World’s Cinderella’s castle. The architecture is similar, and it was originally an exact copy. While the main structure has not changed back in 2006 the castle was repainted to have gold trimmings, the blue turrets had a shade change, and the white now has a tannish pink color.

Tokyo’s castle is home to Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall. Guest are able to walk through the castle which houses room, and displays that take you through the story of Cinderella and her happily-ever-after. You can even take pictures on the throne in the throne room.

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris has it’s own version of Sleeping Beauty’s castle much like the original Disneyland. However, the castle in Paris is a lot bigger coming in at 167ft tall (the California version is 77ft tall).

This castle has a lot going on inside. You start by going up to the second floor where you can look down to the floor below. There are beautiful gallery’s and the stone passageways are lined with images depicting the story of Sleeping Beauty. You then descend into the castle where you come across an animatronic dragon that roars and puffs out smoke.

Disney Hong Kong

When the castle at Hong Kong was first revealed it was a replica of Sleeping Beauty’s castle at the original Disneyland. This however changed early 2018 when they closed the castle for refurbishment.

The castle will now take influence from several Disney classics such as Cinderella, and Snow White. Once the refurbishment of the castle is done it is sure going to be stunning.

Shanghai Disneyland Castle

Shanghai boasts the largest Disney castle to date in it’s Enchanted, Storybook Castle. This is also a wholly original castle that does not just replicate any one Disney park or film castle. Instead, this castle is a mixture of influences of multiple Disney princesses such as Rapunzel, Anna, Belle, Snow White, Tiana, and Elsa.

This castle is also home to several different attractions. You can dine in the castle with characters at the Royal Banquet Hall. There is also a dark ride attraction that travels around and underneath the castle called “Voyage to the Crystal Grotto”, which travels past sculpture gardens depicting scenes from different Disney movies. There is also a walk through attraction like many of the other Disney castle’s, but this one is different in that it depicts Snow White.
